The Aston Martin super sports car may not have “only” 1000 hp. Which, if confirmed, means that the Valkyrie will outperform the Ferrari LaFerrari, weighing less than a Mazda MX-5. This is promising!
The Valkyrie super sports car continues its development process, towards what will be the production version. Which, according to the Road&Track website, may now, after all, boast a power no longer of “only” 1000 hp, but of 1130 hp! That is, a better power-to-weight ratio than a hp per kg!
The information provided on the US site is based, according to the site, on data provided by a source familiar with Aston Martin’s plans for Valkyrie. Which has exclusively provided important technical information on what promises to be one of the most powerful super sports car in the market. And homologated for the road!
According to the same source, the increase in horsepower from the initially announced 1000 hp to 1130 hp is due to the inclusion of the energy recovery system to support the acceleration, KERS. Which will have added 130 hp to the previously announced power and achieved with the 6.5-liter gasoline V12 Cosworth.
If the 1130 hp is confirmed, this means that the Valkyrie will now have more power than the Ferrari LaFerrari, for example, despite weighing less than a Mazda MX-5 with its 1030 kg!
New is the fact that the future production version does not contemplate exterior mirrors, but a system of help cameras with a projection of the images on LCD screens arranged at both ends of the dashboard. Or even the fact that the Aston Martin emblem is placed on the nose of the car and has been designed specifically for this model, so as not to cause any aerodynamic friction. How? It measures less than a micron in height and weighs only a few milligrams, appearing inserted in the painting itself!
In the interior, the center console measures only 7.6 cm width, guarantees the same publication, making almost all the commands appear in the steering wheel. Since all the units will be manufactured according to the wishes (possible) and preferences of the future owners, there is also a guarantee that the Valkyrie will be able to accommodate two adults (even with heights around 1,90 m!) and their luguage allowance for a weekend trip.
But if the road version is not radical enough for you, we remind you that along with the 150 roadside units that Aston Martin intends to manufacture, another 25 will be produced specifically designed for the track. Which, thanks to the inclusion of a specific aerodynamic pack, will be as fast in Silverstone as a single seat of the World Championship of Resistance, promises the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, as with units certified for day-to-day use, if you did not reserve one of the 25 cars built for the track in a timely manner, you will not be able to. This is because all of them are already sold, although the delivery of the first units, in both cases, is only foreseen for 2019.
So, to see a Valkyrie live before then, maybe only at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year, as Aston Martin has promised to participate in the race for the emblematic World Championship of Resistance with which, from the outset, will be the first production unit of its new super sports car. But, attention: with the intention of just doing the first turn!
