Spark Racing Technology presented the first images of the new generation Formula E concept revealing to have maintained the FIA preference for the period from 2018, since since 2013 the company of Fréderic Vasseur is the supplier of the chassis of the world of electric.
The so-called SRT05 is being produced to debut in the 2018/19 season.
Spark presents the new car with “a futuristic design” and “more powerful” to meet the “new challenge” of “double the distance”. For this, the ‘most efficient design’ combines the ‘lower weight and better efficiency in the propulsion’.
“Safety and innovation are the main drivers of this project” of a new chassis equipped with «a new battery that will be heavier». “In order to gain 10% by weight”, Spark will use “new materials to make the car more efficient”, focusing also on “new developments to maintain the safety of the driver”.
The motorsport.com says SRT, the first-generation battery supplier, will work in partnership with Dallara. And that the reduced weight at around 40 kg will outweigh the heavier but more powerful one provided by McLaren Applied Technologies.
This fifth-generation battery will almost double the energy from 28 kW/h to 54 kW/h by increasing the intervals between the needs of collecting the boxes for loading and allowing a running time of around 45 minutes.
