This year, the American football team Atlanta Falcons won a new stadium and the sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz, which they named the stadium. Given the link of the German brand to cutting-edge technologies, it makes sense, as this building has a roof with a special opening that is unique in the world.
The ceiling of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium consists of eight blades that open in bloom, each weighing 500 tons, 67 meters long and 23 meters wide. To hold the ceiling, more than 800 tons of frames were installed, while the movement is done on 300-meter rails, with each petal of the ceiling being moved by two electric motors.
The stadium opened to the public today, with 71,000 seats and an 18-meter-high screen. Mercedes-Benz will sponsor the Atlanta Falcons stadium for 27 NFL seasons.
