One hundred percent electric and autonomous
This is yet another step towards the return of the iconic “volkswagen hippie van”. This is called I.D. Buzz Concept, code name of the study that Volkswagen is presenting at the Detroit Motor Show and which anticipates an electric model of dimensions similar to those of a Multivan. Following trends, I.D. Buzz is equipped with two electric motors (one on each axle, therefore all-wheel drive). The combined power is 374 hp, lithium-ion batteries have 111 kWh of capacity and are placed on the floor of the car. It announces an acceleration of 0 to 100 km / h in 5.3 seconds, an electronically limited maximum speed of 160 km / h and an autonomy to travel 600 km on a single charge. Buzz has a capacity of eight people, with a multifunctional interior that allows the transport of bicycles, for example. The passenger compartment changes when the autonomous driving mode is activated. The steering wheel collects and the seats rotate 180 degrees to the rear. The production version of the successor of “volkswagen hippie van” is scheduled for release in 2022.
