Here is the confirmation that VW will really produce the I.D. Buzz. It is one of the five electric cars that the brand intends to launch between 2019 and 2022. Find out which ones.
In an image from internal documentation of the brand itself, published by the Dutch from Groen7, it is possible to know the production schedule foreseen for all the models that will compose this first range of new electric cars from the Wolfsburg house, between 2019 and 2022.
As expected, the first to hit the market, in 2020 (production will begin a year earlier) will be the hatchback ID, which has dimensions close to those of a Golf of the current generation, 170 hp engine and range of 600 km and targets only the European market.
After that, will come the I.D. Cross which is a production version of the I.D. Crozz prototype. This is an SUV with a four-door coupe vibe and a performance that promises to be at the level of the Golf GTi. It derived from the concept that Volkswagen showed in the past Shanghai Expo and will target Europe and the US.
The latest model of this first lineage to hit the market will be the long-awaited I.D. Buzz, which should even be used in car sharing services in a completely autonomous driving version. It is meant to be launched more towards 2022, however, the destination markets are not disclosed yet.
In between, and this is a new data, two more models will be released. An essential “detail”: none of them is scheduled to launch in Europe, both are targeting only China and North American markets.
To be launched after the I.D. Cross, is the I.D. Lounge which the outward shape is still unknown. However, everything seems to indicate that it is a more functional model, will have more generous dimensions and will be marketed only in China and the US. Following this will be the I.D. AEROe, also “hidden” under a cover, but everything is pointing to a coupe of dynamic and fluid lines.
