The goal is ambitious: Daimler, the owner of the Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, is expected to launch more than 10 new electric car models in the market by 2022.
That is three years earlier than originally stipulated.
Presented the one that will become the new sub-brand of electric cars in Mercedes, called EQ, the German automotive group begins to define strategies for the implementation of this new business. Starting with a strong release of products that should include the launch of over 10 new electric car models by 2022. This decision anticipates in three years the deadline initially announced.
It is recalled that the first of these 10 new electric proposals have already been presented at the Paris Motor Show of 2016, although still as a prototype, has the name of Generation EQ Concept. Basically, a sort of futuristic SUV, which also anticipates a whole new range of models, composed of compacts and sedans.
The Daimler announcement on the strategy for the new electrical sub-brand comes at a time when the German automotive group is hoping for a new record in global sales for the first quarter. “The positive trend in Group sales continues in March”, the manufacturer announced already in a statement. Moreover, the group has also reaffirmed the sales targets for the year 2017, as well as initially stipulated gains.
